These cars are light. Even lighter if you strip them down. They can be made very fast. But it's all in what you are willing to do. Build you a strong 440, Cut the fenders for headers. If you build it right it will tote the front wheels when you get on it. It will snatch your a$$ into the trunk if you don't hold on tight. Or, You could go a more easy way and stick you a 380 horse power 360 in it. With a little tuning these crate motors can make over 400 hp. We are talking cubic bucks here. It's all in what you want. You want a fast street driven Dart, Build you a sleeper 318. Yes, No joke. I've personally have a 71 Duster with a 318 and a 4 speed out of a Dakota pick up that will eat a Corvette for breakfast. All they see is a 4 bbl 318. They don't know that little 318 is making 410 hp. Till they line up against it. Then they see a little mouse that roars. Screams to 8 grand without slinging it's self apart. It took some work. It says 318 on the block. But it has a 4 inch stroker crank in it. It's really a 390. But they don't need to know.

their good light weight little cars to use for racing, i also own a 71 model that is running a small block 360 that's easily producing around 390 horse power and the lower end of it hasn't been touched yet,you don't have to go in to a 360 a lot to get power from it,i can easily beat just about any mustang or camaro that pulls up beside me,you can easily gain enough horse power through the heads and intake and some other little goodies to get a good amount of power from it,good luck

First, you want quick (time) not speed (MPH).

the Darts were as good as most, accepted Mopar parts, light weight but a little front heavy/ Never the less, there were X,xxx's of drag racers bought and made apart from the Challenger/'Cuda lines.

Speed is money, how fast do you want to go?

i could take an prolonged now frustrating look on the distributer, cap and rotor. sounds such as you have already replaced the coil. Use a volt meter commencing on the coil and only hint the place the skill stops. stable success
