It is either the 440 six pack or the 426 hemi. Some say that the 440 is better than the hemi, but most think the hemi is king. For the money, you should probably go with the 440.

Find a V10 out of a wrecked late 90's Dodge pickup. There are way more of them than there are 426's out there and for much less money too. Then just slap it in and Viper it up. I did it to a CJ7 and it's an awesome beast.

In my opinion a Mopar 383 is the way to go. They rev alot higher than a 440 and weigh less for better handling.

the v6 that comes in them is a great motor realy but if you are looking for more power you can put a supercharger on that motor. but it all depends on year models and what you are wanting the truck for.

IF I WERE YOU I WOULD LOOK INTO A 1970 440 V8 ENGINE THERE ARE ALOT OF THEM OUT THERE AND SUMMIT RACING HAS ALL THE PARTS TO RETRO FIT ONE TO YOUR DAKOTA , BUT YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO CHANGE YOUR DRIVE SHAFT AND REAR END BECAUSE OF THE INCREASED TORQUE
