Your Cummins engine does not have glow plugs. The lamp indicates your fuel heater is warming the fuel. Cummins uses direct injection instead of a precombustion/glow plug chamber. When this light comes on, it means the fuel is being heated. When this light goes off, you can safely start the vehicle.

Most glow plug lights indicate the combustion chamber is being warmed, when the light darkens the chamber is warm enough to start the engine.

If this does not answer your question, ask with a clear explanation of the problem.

If you mean. Why does it go on and what does it do.

When you start your truck. You should turn the ignition to the on position. Wait for the glow plug light to go out, then start your truck.

The glow plugs warm the fuel. When the fuel is cold, it has a higher flash point, and during cold weather, can be difficult to start.

Matthew, actually, the light denotes that the air intake heater is on. It will come on when the key is turned on, and when it goes out the intake air is heated enough for quick starting. In warm weather, you may not even see it come on, but in colder weather, it may stay on a long time.
