Question:
1968 or 1969 Dodge Charger Rebuild Kits?
2008-05-17 08:47:26 UTC
I have wanted a 1968 or 1969 Dodge Charger for a long time. I know that when I do find one, it will need rebuilt. Since I dont own a car yet, I wont know what size the engine will be. I need a place that sells complete rebuild kits for the engines in 1968 or 69 Chargers. I am planing on one day, if I do find one, turning it into a Daytona clone. '68 Daytonas didnt factory exist, but clones I have seen one the internet are just as good looking as a factory '69.

I have always wanted a 6 pack. I am a Mopar man myself, and the three duces have never done anybody wrong. If I cant find a six pack, I will just swap one in!

anyone sells engine kits for those cars,id wait and see what the car had in it before i went looking for parts, finding a good deal on a 69 is going to be hard enough, and i don't think you,ll find one that it will be that easy as just rebuilding the engine in,you may find one minus an engine,or one to restore, there plenty of places to buy parts from on those, you may have to find an engine for one before you have something to rebuild, and those had different engines in them, they didn't come with one engine size, first find the car then we can help you, good luck.

Are you REALLY a mopar man?

Do you know what you're asking?

68 69 Chargers came with the slant 6, 318, 383, 440, or 426 hemi...

440 six pak was introcuced in 70...

the most desirable of the second gen Chargers with the first year of the high impact colors!

To clone a 68 or 69 into a Daytona you would need 70 fenders and hood!!!

A nose and wing could cost $2000-$5000 if you can find them...$20 000 each for NOS!!!

A crate 440 6pak or 426 hemi $13 000-$15 000

Which is cheaper than finding a 70-72 hp 440 motor and second hand intake and carbs (alone are $2000)

68-69 440's had different cranks, heads, so on...

In 68-69 about 90 000 Chargers were built each year...

About 80% of them were 318's (guess)

You can find fixer uppers for about $10 000

drivers for $18 000-$28 000

or restored $28 000- up

IF you found a driver that only needed an engine rebuild kit(?) it would still be in the 16-18's!

SAVE, SAVE, SAVE

and buy the car first

68-69 didn't come with 440 six pacs. Mancini Racing has every thing you need. For any mopar engine trans or rear ever made.

Including Six Pacs.

Advice save up about 75 grand and buy a restored car. It will cost you that to build a nice car.

Year one sells alot of mopar stuff....Pick up mopar muscle mag and you,ll also get another good resource for your project...Parts for these are plentiful...You can also find alot on ebay...Daytonas and superbirds are different...The noses and wings were not interchangeable...Goldberg the wrestler is a huge mopar nut,he,s buliding a superbird clone right now...The cool thing about building your own car is that you can put what ever motor you want in it...Check out www.440source.com for all your mopar engine needs...Me i,d go for a 400 block and stroke it to about 472 cu.inches..You,ll get a good street strip motor this way..They now have six pack kits that are fuel injected!!!This a good way to go since the others were so hard to keep properly tuned...Go for a five or six sped tranny also...You can get a complete kit for about 5000.00...It takes alot more money to build a Mopar vs ford or chevy...It,s all worth the money and time!!!MOPARS RULE!~!
