Chrysler Corp. products tend to be among the least mechanically sophisticated vehicles in their class segment. The Neon can post performance numbers as good or better than anything else in its size class, but it will be noisy and rough doing it.



For the money, I'd look into one of the Japanese makes. If you like the Ford Focus, the Mazda3 might merit special attention. It shares a basic platform with the Focus, but the suspension is tuned for sportier drivinf

Don't listen to the other tool. The 2nd generation neon if well taken care of will be a good car. Thats a good price to. Oh by the way, I have a 98 neon that just ticked over 200K miles just the other day. All I do it take car of it and it still runs great.

my dad has this car sais hill buy another one cuase it hogs up gas.ull have to pay the full price of the car in one month just for gas.anyway i prefer ushould get a toyota camry, simple,not gas hoger,and good for the price its worth

If your not worried bout the price of gas not that it gets poor gas milage for me its great but comfortable power & looks great exspecialy compared to the focus all i can say is test drive one youl feel the diference and decide for yourself but i highly recomend one ...... 2005 neon sxt ive owned one for 2 1/2 years

Is there any chance you'd consider something more along the lines of a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla? Not that the Neon is a gas hog, but in the coming months and years you're really going to want a high MPG car. I've never driven an SXT, but I was more impressed with the Ford Focus than a standard Neon.

i have drove both those vehicles and the ford focus will not out drive the neon but the neon has great bit more power and also,will drive as good on good roads,they are a little bit louder to ride in though because they aren't built with a lot of insulation but i think you would like the way the sxt drives and rides,and its not lacking on any power,it runs extremely good,the focus will just be a little quieter ride ,that's about it,i would choose the sxt though over a focus any day,those cars hold up really well,go drive one of each,and you,ll see the difference in them,good luck.
